State-of-the-Art Wagon Repair Complex Launches Operations at the Novosibirsk SEZ

The grand opening ceremony of the complex was attended by Novosibirsk Region Governor Andrey Travnikov, Head of the West Siberian Railway Alexander Gritsai, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of RemTerminal LLC Alexander Kahidze.

To date, the first stage of the project has been completed, establishing a section for current uncoupling repairs of freight wagons. Construction of a wheel-roller section is underway and is scheduled for completion by the end of this year. Future plans include the construction of a wagon repair plant with the capability to manufacture own rolling stock.

Andrey Travnikov recalled that when the Novosibirsk Region defended its application to the Government Commission for the creation of the first special economic zone in the region a year ago, the application was supported unconditionally because the Commission appreciated the effect of the SEZ's creation for the entire country: "The uniqueness of the Novosibirsk SEZ lies in the concentration of powerful transport infrastructure and unique logistics opportunities for current and future residents. The SEZ's development follows this concept. Today, we witness the launch of the first phase of a resident that will provide an additional boost to the railway infrastructure's operation within the Novosibirsk region's range, eliminating unnecessary runs, and offer additional services to shippers and consignees located within the Novosibirsk SEZ."

Alexander Gritsai, Head of the West Siberian Railway, emphasized the uniqueness of the facility now being inaugurated, which is still in its development phase: "Overall, in 2025, nearly 270 container trains have departed from the terminal. This represents a 41% increase compared to 2024. And this is not the final figure."

A key feature of the project is its technological integration with the Sibirsky transport and logistics center. This ensures diagnostics and repair of rolling stock directly at loading and unloading points. This solution minimizes transport costs, reduces wagon downtime, and increases the capacity of the public railway infrastructure.

"The site for the wagon repair complex was chosen deliberately. Its location on the infrastructure adjacent to the Sibirsky TLC will ensure maximum readiness of the wagon fleet of Siberia's largest terminal for loading and uninterrupted transportation of containers on fitting platforms and in open-top wagons," explained Alexander Kahidze, Chairman of the Board of Directors of RemTerminal LLC.

The complex will be equipped with advanced technologies, including elements of a "digital depot" and intelligent machine vision systems. These innovations provide comprehensive technical support throughout the wagon's life cycle – from initial diagnostics to the finished wagon's readiness for loading.

RemTerminal LLC is among the first to obtain resident status of the "Novosibirsk" industrial-production type special economic zone, granting the enterprise tax benefits and significantly shortening the project's payback period.

The opening of the repair complex will create a powerful synergistic effect, transforming the Novosibirsk agglomeration into one of the most technologically advanced logistics clusters in Siberia. This not only enhances the region's investment attractiveness but also strengthens the reliability of the entire transport network.
